U.S. envoy to Seoul, Mark Lippert, injured in attack

SEOUL, March 4 (UPI) — Mark Lippert, the U.S. ambassador to Seoul, was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after he was attacked by an armed assailant.

Lippert was on his way to a lecture in central Seoul when the attacker injured him.

The suspect, whose name wasn’t reported, was immediately arrested.

Lippert, who was bleeding, was rushed to a hospital, sources told Yonhap News Agency. His condition was unknown.

Lippert was named ambassador to South Korea in May 2014.
