May 25 (UPI) — UFC star Conor McGregor teased a comeback with an Instagram post, telling his followers he would see them soon.

McGregor made the post Thursday, telling his 23.6 million followers on the platform to put their dukes up.

“Keep your dukes up when you see me,” McGregor wrote. “See you soon.”

More than 1.6 million people liked the post as of Friday morning. McGregor, 29, sported a vest and beret while posing in a fighting stance for the shot.

The 21-3 lightweight hasn’t fought in the mixed martial arts league since beating Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title at UFC 205 on Nov. 12, 2016 in New York. His last fighting appearance came in a boxing mega-bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas. Mayweather won that super welterweight bout by a tenth-round TKO.

Both fighters have since teased a meeting in UFC, but no official bout has been announced.

UFC president Dana White recently told ESPN that he plans to meet with McGregor this week in Liverpool, Great Britain.

McGregor was arrested and charged with three counts of assault and a count of criminal mischief in April following an incident at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has a court date on June 14.

ESPN and the UFC announced a five-year, $1.5 billion TV deal on Wednesday, bringing MMA fights to the network starting in 2019.
