Yemen partakes in OIC's foreign ministers meeting

SANA’A, Nov.15 (Saba)- Yemen is to participate in the 39th meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, which begins Thursday and lasts three days in Djibouti under the slogan “ The session of solidarity for sustainable development”.

Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi and head of Yemen’s delegation to the meeting said in a statement to Saba as he left Sana’a Thursday that the conference will discuss the situation in Syria, which tops concerns in view of the rapid developments, in addition to ways to support the Member States to UN and Arab envoy to Syrian Lakhdar Brahimi to stop the bloodshed and addressing the humanitarian situation.

He added that a special session will be held on the recent developments in Myanmar, where many of the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province suffered attacks by groups of Buddhists and ethnic cleansing, in an attempt to reach a unified Islamic position at the meeting of Djibouti.

The meeting will also dealt with the current situation in Mali and the coast and following up the recommendations of Mecca summit in this regard, in addition to discussing ways to provide more support for the reconstruction of Somalia.

Nevertheless, the meeting will touch on the issue of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict in terms of following-up efforts of the General Assembly to mobilize international support for recognition of the state of Palestine in the United Nations, as well as the evolution of the situation in Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan and the current situation of the peace process in the Middle East.

Moreover, a special session will be held to develop ideas about the Islamic approach in the religious dialogue and international relations by focusing on the cases of repeated offending to the Prophet Muhmmad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The meeting of Foreign Ministers will witness approval of the rules of procedure for the permanent body for human rights of the Organization and the establishment of new regional offices of the organization, and the establishment of the Office of the Organization for Food Security in Kazakhstan.
