Nahyan opens first Emirates Surgical Pathology Conference


WAM ABU DHABI: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research today opened the first Emirates Surgical Pathology Conference (ESPC2013), which is organised by the Emirates Pathology Society(EPS), under the Emirates Medical Association.




Three hundred renowned international and regional speakers are taking part in the event which will run to 9 February.




In his opening address, Sheikh Nahyan emphasised the importance of the event which will highlight and discuss hot topics within Pathology, focusing primarily on breast, gastrointestinal, soft tissue and gynecological pathology and cytology.




The comprehensive scientific program will be supported by a distinguished panel of leading experts and faculty from the field of Pathology, to ensure attendees receive only the best and most up-to-date information and educational experience.




The Emirates Pathology Society (EPS) of Emirates Medical Association (EMA) was founded in the early 1980s by a group of dedicated pathologists Dr. Naeema Alharmoodi, Pathologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) Hospital in Abu Dhabi, and a speaker at the conference, is the EPS President; and Dr Suhaila Al Ameeri, Anatomic Pathology Consultant at Mafraq Hospital, is the Society’s Vice-President.




Alharmoodi noted that the conference aims to contribute to the professional development in surgical pathology by bringing together experts to share their knowledge and research findings, and to provide an opportunity for local pathologists to expand collaborative networks for learning regionally and internationally.
