Sudanese Club in Abu Dhabi honours UAE national football team on winning Khaliji 21


WAM Abu Dhabi, Mar 26th, 2013 (WAM)–The Sudanese Social Club in Abu Dhabi honoured on Monday the UAE national football team on winning the Khaliji 21 football championship hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in January.




The event drew a number of board members of the UAE Football Association and the Sudanese community.




Dr Ali Zayed Beraima, Chairman of the Sudanese Social Club said, "The event reflects the deep-rooted ties between the two sisterly countries, citing the visit of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to Sudan in 1972." He also referred to the philanthropic stance of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Members of Supreme Council, Their Highnesses Rulers of Emirates to Sudan. He underlined the appreciation of the Sudanese people towards the UAE leadership and people.




"The honorary ceremony is an expressive genuine joy of the Sudanese community about the UAE’s victory in the Khaliji 21", Dr Beraima said, congratulating the UAE team for achieving another victory when they recently defeated the Uzbek football team. He wished them to win the Asia Football Championship.




For his part, Mohammed Al Hassan Ba’shoom, Sudanese Consul General in Abu Dhabi stressed the depth of relations between the two countries, greeting the UAE football team about the Khaliji 21 victory.




At the conclusion of the ceremony, the UAE team’s technical and administrative staff, as well as players were awarded gifts and memento shields, which were received on their behalves by Captain Hassan Ismail, goal keepers coach of the UAE football team. Meanwhile, the administration of the UAE football team presented a memento gift to the Sudanese Social Club.
