Emirates ID wins ICT Leadership Award


WAM ABU DHABI, May 01, 2013 (WAM) — The Emirates Identity Authority has won the ICT Leadership Award, part of the Middle East Business Leaders Summit and Awards, in appreciation of its role in building a modern and accurate database of civil biometrics for the UAE population.




Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, received the award during the 4th edition of the Middle East Business Leaders Summit and Awards 2013, which was hosted by Abu Dhabi. The award was sponsored by the Federation of GCC Chambers and the Leaders International magazine.




The list of awards included the Masterclass CEO Award, Masterclass Conglomerate of the Year and Emerging CEO of the Year in addition to other awards for honoring the leading personalities in the banking and finance sectors, information and communication technology (ICT) and renewable energy.




The jury of the awards valued the Emirates ID’s role in completing the demographic database and facilitating the provision of both government and personal business services for UAE citizens and residents, not to mention its provision of the information necessary for supporting UAE decision making and strategic planning as well as its supply of the resources necessary for national development in an accurate and prudent manner.




The Emirates ID gained this award in recognition of the achievements it was able to accomplish over the past two years (2011-2012), by virtue of which it won many local and international awards including 4 awards in the second edition of the Emirates Government Excellence Award emanating from Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program.
