WAM Moscow, 19th Sept.,2013 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, held today a series of meetings with top Russian officials dealing with ways of boosting avenues of joint cooperation in areas of economy and investment.
Sheikh Hamed met the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Sergei Donskoi, and discussed with him means of enhancing Emirati-Russian cooperation in conservation, protection and development of the environment.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamed and Donskoi exchanged views on best mechanisms to advance international efforts towards conservation of the environment and implementing initiatives aimed at striking ecological balance in the world and protecting its natural resources. They also stressed the importance of sharing successful experiments for building safe healthy, economic and environmental communities and publicise such models worldwide.
Highlighting the vital role of environment protection for overall balanced and sustainable growth, Sheikh Hamed stated that the UAE was supporting all dedicated efforts aimed at serving and protecting the environment and addressing damages it could sustain.
He said the UAE has promoted its position as one of the leading countries in adopting renewable energy sources, referring to a package of projects and initiatives it implemented at local and international levels in support of world efforts to transfer to use of clean energy and reduce dependence on traditional sources of energy.
He emphasised that all investment and industrial projects subject to strict international environmental standards and adopt advanced technology to contain the negative impact of economic activities and help the environment remain healthy and clean.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamed also had talks with Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov on prospects of joint investment in transport and infrastructure projects.
The two sides stressed that distinguished ties between the UAE and Russia pave the way for broader cooperation that serves mutual interest in several vital sectors including transport.
Later, Sheikh Hamed also met with Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev and explored with him ways of boosting economic cooperation to serve interest of the two countries.
The meeting also discussed the importance of leveraging joint economic cooperation in industrial, trade and investment sectors to the level both countries aspire for. Provision of assistance and facilities to encourage companies in both countries to establish joint investment projects were also touched during the meeting. The two sides also highlighted the important role Emirati and Russian businessmen and investors could play in bolstering joint economic and trade cooperation through bilateral meetings.
For his part, Sheikh Hamed said the investment climate in the UAE, which offers attractive investment incentives and has modern legislative system that regulates economic and business activities and protects investment, has made the country a magnetic destination for diverse investment from across the world.
Sheikh Hamed also met with Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank of Russia and discussed with him programmes that promote cooperation in investment between financial institutions in the UAE and Russia.
