Yemen discusses security cooperation with US, Italy and UN


SANA’A, July 13 (Saba)- Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdu Hussein al-Tarib met on Sunday with a number of ambassadors of friendly countries and discussed with them the security cooperation areas.




The Interior Minister discussed with the U.S. ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tauller the security coordination between Yemen and the U.S. and ways of enhancing them.




The minister praised the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, especially the security field and hailed the support and assistance provided by the U.S. to Yemen.




For his part, the U.S. ambassador affirmed the continuation of his country’s support to Yemen in all fields, including the security field.




In a related context, the minister al-Tarib met with charge d’affaires of Italian embassy in Sana’a and discussed with her the security cooperation between Yemen and Italy, particularly in the coastguard area and the Italian support for completing the establishment stages of the marine radar system of the coastguard police.




Al-Tarib highly valued the efforts and assistance provided by the Italian government to Yemen to promote the abilities of the Yemeni coastguards.




The Italian charge d’affaires presented an explanation on the implementation stages and the progress made in the marine radar system project of the Yemeni coastguard police.




Furthermore, the interior minister discussed with of the United Nations (UN) Resident Representative in Yemen Paolo Lembo the security cooperation and and the cooperation and coordination in the humanitarian field.




Al-Tarib commended the support provided by the UN Office in Yemen in the humanitarian, service and developmental areas for the displace people, confirming that the ministry would present all facilities to the office.




For his part, Lembo praised the level of cooperation and facilities presented to the UN Office ,assuring the keenness to provide more support and assistance to Yemen in all fields, especially in the humanitarian field.
