Coast Guard looks for missing fisherman

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Oct. 12 (UPI) —

A crab fisherman fell overboard Thursday morning from a boat off the south coast of Alaska, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard launched an air and sea search. A helicopter, plane and a cutter were dispatched from Air Station Kodiak.

The call came in shortly before 11 a.m. The missing man was a crew member on a crabbing vessel, which was located 30 miles northwest of Sitkinak Island.

"We have dispatched multiple units to the area to search for the missing fisherman," said Petty Officer 1st Class Victor Santos at Sector Anchorage. "Our units on scene have deployed data marker buoys to help us determine the best search area."
