'Hemlock' to have April debut on Netflix

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 10 (UPI) —

Eli Roth’s Pennsylvania-set Gothic thriller series "Hemlock Grove" is to debut online April 19, Netflix announced.

The show follows the eccentric residents of a former steel town where 17-year-old Brooke Bluebell was murdered.

"Through the investigation, the town’s seamier side is exposed, revealing that nothing is what it seems," a synopsis said.

All 13 episodes of the series, which is based on Brian McGreevy’s novel, will be available to subscribers the same day. The series stars Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgard, Landon Liboiron, Penelope Mitchell, Freya Tingley and Dougray Scott.

"’Hemlock Grove’ is unlike anything else in its genre," Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement Wednesday. "It’s sexy, gripping, emotional and twisted, and we’re certain viewers are going to be captivated by its intensity."

Famous for his horror films "Hostel" and "Cabin Fever," Roth is an executive producer on "Hemlock Grove" and directed the first episode.
