SCHLADMING, Austria, Feb. 5 (UPI) —
U.S. Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn has crashed during the opening day of the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships and has been taken to a hospital, officials say.
Vonn, of Vail, Colo., had posted the fastest first interval and was having a strong run in the super G in Schladming, Austria, when she went down, the U.S. Ski Team reported on its website Tuesday.
As is standard protocol, race medical officials immediately attended to her and she was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter.
No further information was immediately available.
