Lost tourist gets a hand from train company

PARIS, May 11 (UPI) —

Train conductors made a special stop for an elderly tourist in France who was lost to help her get back on track.

The woman, visiting from the Caribbean, boarded a train in Paris headed to Nancy when she was supposed to go to Reims, TheLocal.fr said Friday. By the time she realized her mistake it was after 11 p.m. Passengers said she became distraught and burst into tears at the thought of having to maker her way back to Reims in the middle of the night.

Some passengers offered accommodations in Nancy for the night but the train conductors did them one better. They made an unscheduled stop at a station in Champagne-Arden where the woman was able to get on a different train that was headed to Reims.

Rather than express annoyance at the diversion and delay, rail passengers applauded the woman when she left the train, the website said.
