Man killed in hospital maternity ward shooting

LUMBERTON, N.C., Nov. 14 (UPI) —


North Carolina hospital was locked down for several hours Thursday after a fatal shooting in the maternity ward, police said.




An argument broke out between the father and boyfriend of a woman who had given birth at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and the boyfriend pulled a knife, WRAL-TV, Raleigh, N,C., reported.




The boyfriend, identified as Billy Ray Oxendine, was fatally shot by a security officer when he refused to drop the knife. No one else was injured.
