Target apologizes for poor Photoshop in bathing suit ad

MINNEAPOLIS, March 12 (UPI) —

Minnesota-based retailer Target apologized for poor use of Photoshop in a bathing suit ad featuring a model whose thigh gap extended into her pelvis.

Target spokesman Evan Miller confirmed the gap between the model’s thighs in the bathing suit advertisement was augmented with photo-editing software and the editing resulted in the gap extending too far into the woman’s pelvis in the picture, ABC News reported Wednesday.

"It was an unfortunate error on our part and we apologize," Miller said. "We removed the image from the site and we’re working to get a new image up there."

The poor Photoshop job was initially reported by bloggers who spotted the image before it was removed from the site.

"If it weren’t part of an ongoing attempt to mold unrealistic bodies in fashion marketing, it would almost be funny," a post on blog The Ethical Adman reads.
