US stocks climb, led by gains in the health care sector

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are moving higher in midday trading, led by gains in the health care sector.

Drug giant Pfizer rose 3.5 percent Monday, the biggest gain in the Dow Jones industrial average.

Visa lagged the market. The payments processing company slumped 3 percent after announcing a deal to combine with its European counterpart.

Chipotle Mexican Grill fell 2.5 percent. The company temporarily closed its restaurants in Oregon and Washington state after an outbreak of E. coli.

The Dow average gained 87 points, or 0.5 percent, to 17,750 as of 11:45 a.m. Eastern time.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 13 points, or 0.6 percent, to 2,092.

The Nasdaq composite climbed 44 points, or 0.9 percent, to 5,098.
