Video: Los Angeles Angels use chopper to dry field

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 20 (UPI) — The Los Angeles Angers got creative Monday, in an effort to get in a baseball game.

By using a police helicopter, the Angels were able to dry its field in order to face the Boston Red Sox. The Angels’ Sunday showdown with the Red Sox was postponed, for the team’s first rained out game in 20 years.

The Angels beat the Red Sox 11-1 in the first game of Monday’s double header. The Red Sox sit in the cellar of the American League’s East division, while the Angels lead the American League’s West division.

“(Head groundskeeper) Barney (Lopas) said the field is better than it was two nights ago when it rained during batting practice,” Manager Mike Scioscia told the Los Angeles Times. “We anticipate the field to be fine.”

First pitch for game two of the showdown was set for after 10 p.m.
