LOS ANGELES (AP) — A court has released video footage of Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke testifying about their hit song “Blurred Lines” in a successful copyright infringement lawsuit by Marvin Gaye’s children.
Thicke says during his the 2014 deposition testimony that he was high for all his interviews promoting the song, which was 2013’s biggest hit. Williams testifies about being inspired by Gaye’s music, but denies copying Gaye’s song “Got to Give It Up.”
The footage, released Monday, is not the artists’ full 2014 depositions but snippets that were played at trial earlier this year.
A jury in March awarded Gaye’s children $7.4 million after finding “Blurred Lines” copied their father’s music. A judge later cut the verdict to $5.3 million.
The footage was first obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
