VIENNA (AP) — Vienna is preparing to host its biggest annual party of the year — the Life Ball, Europe’s largest event in support of AIDS and HIV research.
The event late Saturday sees celebrities rubbing shoulders with party-goers dressed in little more than body paint and cross-dressers in wild costumes. There’s also show numbers, a fashion show featuring the wild creations of Jean Paul Gaultier, and more.
Actress Charlize Theron will attend this year’s event with her partner Sean Penn.
Other attendees are expected to include singers Paula Abdul and Kelly Osbourne, burlesque artist Dita von Teese — and of course Conchita Wurst, the Austrian cross-dressing winner of last year’s Eurovision song contest.
Vienna’s neo-Gothic City Hall is the venue, with its square turned into a giant stage.
