Viola Davis’ daughter dresses as her for Halloween

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) — Viola Davis was flattered to report her daughter Genesis dressed as her for Halloween.

The 50-year-old actress shared a photo of the 4-year-old holding a trophy while wearing a white dress reminiscent of her mom’s 2015 Emmy Awards outfit.

“So…..the Elsa costume? Didn’t work for her. The Pirate? A no go. So she finally said, ‘I just want to be YOU mommy!’ So… uhh…. this is ME,” the star captioned the picture.

Davis became the first African-American woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for ABC series How to Get Away with Murder in September. She previously told Ellen DeGeneres her daughter supported her the entire way.

“She said, ‘Mommy, you don’t have to be afraid of losing. You’re still my favorite girl,’” the actress recalled following her win. “That made me cry, but I was like, ‘I don’t want to lose, baby.’”

Davis and her husband, Julius Tennon, a 61-year-old actor, married in June 2003, and adopted Genesis in October 2011. The actress is also stepmother to Tennon’s two sons from previous relationships.

Davis plays Professor Annalise Keating on How to Get Away with Murder, which airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. She has also appeared on Law & Order: SVU and United States of Tara, and will portray Amanda Waller in the DC Comics movie Suicide Squad.
