LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) — Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard proved she can “cry on command” during her visit to Conan in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
“You can cry on command?” host Conan O’Brien asked, clearly impressed when his guest nodded emphatically and said, “Yes, yes.”
“How long do you need to prepare for that?” O’Brien wanted to know.
“I think if we just keep talking, I don’t know, at some point… I should probably drink some water, so that I’m hydrated,” she said, taking a sip from a mug.
As O’Brien began a minute-plus soliloquy about Home Depot, the show’s camera focused on Howard’s face. Before long, her eyes began to water, tears rolled down her face and her voice began to shake. When O’Brien was finished, she collapsed into giggles.
“That was great! My God!” O’Brien said, handing her a tissue. “It builds so realistically.”
“Our producer is crying because I think [Home Depot competitor] Lowe’s is a sponsor,” quipped Conan sidekick Andy Richter.
“Is it Lowe’s? Are they the sponsor,” O’Brien inquired. Told it is, he added: “OK, well, then, alright, well. Hi, Lowe’s. It was a comedy bit.”
“Lowe’s doesn’t make us cry. When we go there, we’re so happy,” Howard came in for the rescue.
“Thank you. You just saved my ass,” O’Brien quipped.
