LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) — Patti LaBelle and partner Artem Chigvintsev wowed fans on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.
The 70-year-old singer and 32-year-old professional dancer performed a salsa to 50 Cent hit “In da Club” on the ABC reality competition.
LaBelle and Chigvintsev earned a comfortable score of 28 for the dance, an improvement from the 26 they received for their foxtrot to “Lady Marmalade” last week. The singer injured her knee in rehearsals Sunday, but appeared at ease during the routine.
“I’m going to do my best, because I’m not afraid of failure,” LaBelle previously told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I consider myself a young 70. There is nothing that can stop me except me, myself and I. I don’t plan on being in my own way ever again.”
LaBelle is well-known for her decades-long career in the music industry, and last released live album Live in Washington, D.C., in June 2008. The singer also acts, and recently appeared as Dora Ross on FX series American Horror Story: Freak Show.
