Wednesday could be the ‘final show’ for Howard Stern on SiriusXM

NEW YORK, Dec. 15 (UPI) — The end may be near for The Howard Stern Show.

During Monday’s edition of the popular program, Howard Stern said that due to unsettled contract negotiations with satellite radio company SiriusXM, that Wednesday may the final episode of his long-running show.

“I’d like to know what’s happening, honestly,” Stern said on-air Monday explaining how his agent was currently handling the situation.

“I said, ‘Don’t even bother me. If somebody has a contract with me I’ll go work, but that’s it,’” Stern said. “So we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. We might not have an answer for you, but Wednesday could be the final show.”

As Bloomberg Business reports, data suggests that SiriusXM “could lose more than $240 million in annual revenue” if Stern leaves. Sirius CEO James Meyer said last month he’s “very hopeful that we’ll get an agreement done with Howard.”

Throughout Monday’s broadcast, Stern played with the idea that Wednesday could be the final episode joking about just going away, playing farewell songs and airing a faux movie trailer for “the final episode of the Howard Stern Show ever, maybe.”

Stern also interviewed Tina Fey to promote her new film Sisters Monday where she also shared a personal story of an insult she received while she was the head writer at Saturday Night Live.

Earlier this year, Stern departed America’s Got Talent after serving as a judge for the talent show for four seasons.
