Wildlife cam catches genet riding on black rhino’s back

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, July 28 (UPI) — A South African wildlife charity shared “world first” video of an elusive genet riding on the back of a critically endangered black rhinoceros.

Wildlife ACT, a conservation charity based in Cape Town, posted a video to YouTube showing the “world first” footage of a genet — a small, spotted cat with a long body and a raccoon-like tail — hitching a ride on the back of a critically endangered black rhino.

The charity said the same animal, nicknamed Genet Jackson by rescuers, was previously photographed riding on the back of a buffalo and a white rhino.

Wildlife ACT said the new footage is considered particularly rare due to the critically endangered status of the black rhino.
