LONDON, May 4 (UPI) — Will Poulter is reportedly in negotiations for a remake of {i:It}.
The 22-year-old actor {link:is expected to play: “http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/will-poulter-play-pennywise-cary-793199″,nw} the evil clown Pennywise in a new adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. New Line Cinema is said {link:to have also considered: “http://variety.com/2015/film/news/will-poutler-pennywise-the-clown-in-new-lines-it-remake-1201446495/”,nw} older actors Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn for the role.
{i:It} will be released as a two-part movie directed by Cary Fukunaga ({i:True Detective}), with filming to begin in the summer. The novel was published in 1986, and previously adapted as a two-part television miniseries with Tim Curry as Pennywise in 1990.
The story follows a group of children terrorized by a creature they call “It.” The being often appears in the form of a clown, but has the ability to assume the shape of whatever its victims fear most. Fukunaga is attached to write the second installment, which will see the characters reunite as adults.
Poulter is known for portraying Kenny in Rawson Marshall Thurber comedy {i:We’re the Millers} and Gally in a Wes Ball adaptation of James Dashner novel {i:The Maze Runner}. The actor is also scheduled for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu {link:revenge film: “http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/Movies/2015/01/21/Leonardo-DiCaprio-stars-in-first-photos-from-The-Revenant/8051421875230/”,nw} {i:The Revenant} with Leonardo DiCaprio.
