Will Smith to perform during Latin Grammy Awards

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 19 (UPI) — Will Smith will be continuing his return to music by performing at the 16th annual Latin Grammy Awards, according to the actor.

“Performing at the Latin Grammy Awards is a huge honor for me,” the 47-year-old said in a statement. “I’ll be surrounded by so many talented artists whose music has such profound global impact. I can’t think of a more perfect place for Bomba Estereo and I to perform ‘Fiesta Remix’ for the first time onstage.”

The news comes weeks after Smith released his first single in 10 years by teaming up with Colombian band Bomba Estéreo for a remix of their song “Fiesta.” The popular tune is nominated for record of year at the event that takes place Nov. 19 in Las Vegas, Nev.

A music video for the single was shared earlier this month on Smith’s Facebook page.

In a recent interview with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe, Smith discussed recording new music and plans for a world tour with longtime creative partner DJ Jazzy Jeff.

“The most important thing is I’m pretty certain I’m going on tour,” he revealed. “Jeff and I actually never have done a full tour…[because] I was always on the Fresh Prince of BelAir, [or] was always making a movie.”

Smith’s last album Lost and Found was released in 2005.
