'Wolf Hall' takes top honors at the British Academy Television Awards

LONDON, May 9 (UPI) — Wolf Hall was deemed Best Drama Series and its star Mark Rylance was named Best Leading Actor in a Drama Series at the British Academy Television Awards in London.

Chanel Cresswell took home the trophy for Best Supporting Actress for her work in This Is England ’90, a program that also received the award for Best Miniseries.

Suranne Jones earned the honor for Best Leading Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Doctor Foster, while Tom Courtenay’s work in Unforgotten won him the statuette for Best Supporting Actor.

Peter Kay’s Car Share was voted Best Scripted Comedy, while its lead Peter Kay scored the award for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Program.

Michaela Coel was presented with the prize for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Program for her role in Chewing Gum.

Comedian Graham Norton hosted the ceremony Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall.
