DALLAS (AP) — Online videos posted earlier this year by a black woman found dead in a Texas jail show her saying that she suffered from depression, though family members don’t believe she would take her own life.
Sandra Bland, who had lived in a Chicago suburb, was arrested a week ago in Waller County, Texas, for allegedly kicking an officer who stopped her for a traffic violation. Authorities say she hanged herself in her cell Monday.
Bland posted two online video earlier this year saying she was suffering from depression. Family and friends say the 28-year-old gave no indication she might commit suicide.
A prosecutor said Thursday that he will present findings of a Texas Rangers’ investigation to a grand jury. The FBI also is investigating.
