Woman searches for sweatshirt of best friend’s late mother

TORONTO, Dec. 10 (UPI) — A Toronto woman launched a search for a sweater belonging to her best friend’s late mother after it was accidentally donated to an Oklahoma Goodwill.

Alison Williams took to Reddit hoping for a “Christmas miracle” as she looked to reclaim the white sweatshirt that belonged to the mother of her longtime friend Jennifer Hovis.

“Fairly recently, my best friend’s mother died very unexpectedly. This week, her father cleared out her closet and donated her clothes to Goodwill. When my friend asked for a specific sweatshirt, she found it was too late,” she wrote.

Unable to make the trip to Oklahoma herself, Williams called Goodwill’s central location, as well as nearly every store in the state and pleaded with Reddit users to help search for the sweatshirt.

While Williams is cautiously optimistic about being able to find the sweater, she is grateful for all of the help she has received since sharing her search with the world.

“I’ve been absolutely blown away by the offers of help from strangers to me, strangers to my friend,” she told CBC news. “It’s just been incredible.”
