LONDON, March 29 (UPI) — Millions of teenage hearts broke when Zayn Malik quit One Direction last week.
But the 22-year-old singer is reportedly already working on his first solo album with Simon Cowell’s Syco Music, the same label that signed One Direction in 2010.
The Sun reported Saturday that Syco Music let Malik out of his contract with One Direction on the condition that he record his first solo album with the label.
Malik was also spotted at a London reporting studio on Thursday.
Malik announced March 25 that he would be leaving the popular boy group after five years.
“I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” he said. “I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
