LOS ANGELES, Dec. 28 (UPI) — Zhang Ziyi and husband Wang Feng have welcomed their first child.
The 36-year-old Chinese actress gave birth to a baby girl Sunday, and announced the news with a photo on the Chinese social media site Weibo.
“December 27, 2015, you, me, her,” Zhang wrote. “With the birth of this little life, we have our own family. Everything went safely and smoothly. Infinite gratitude!”
Zhang and the 44-year-old Chinese singer have been together since 2013, and got engaged on the actress’ 36th birthday in February. Wang proposed to Zhang by sending a white drone carrying a 9.15 carat diamond ring to her during her party.
“We have experienced sweet times and bitter times in the spotlight,” he reportedly said at the time. “I wish Ziyi would be happy forever. And I hope that I am allowed the chance to take care of you when we both are old.”
The couple are said to have married in May, but will reportedly hold the ceremony after Zhang recovers from her daughter’s birth. Wang was previously wed to Qi Dan and Kang Zuoru, and has two more daughters by former partners.
Zhang is known for the wuxia martial arts films Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero and House of Flying Daggers, and also starred in an adaptation of the Arthur Golden novel Memoirs of a Geisha. She is slated for The Wasted Times in 2016.
