LGBT Activists Celebrate White House Access To Pope Francis

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists celebrated their access to the White House to view the welcoming ceremonies for Pope Francis, after a week of political controversy over their invitations. The White House downplayed the controversy by reminding critics that they were more than 11,000 people attending the event on the South Lawn of the White House.

President Obama Promotes Political Agenda During Welcome of Pope Francis

President Obama welcomed Pope Francis warmly to the White House today, but he didn’t hold back his attempt to shape the Holy Father’s teachings to fit his own agenda. Obama told Pope Francis of his own experience as a community organizer and his time in Kenya, explaining that “I’ve seen firsthand how, every day, Catholic communities, priests, nuns, and laity feed the hungry, heal the sick, shelter the homeless, educate our children, and fortify the faith that sustains so many.”

Joe Biden: African-Americans Suffering Under Obama Economy

“While unemployment rate for African-Americans has dropped by more than 7 percent since the height of the recession, it is still double the unemployment rate as the rest of the country,” Joe Biden says. “And over the last 30 years, African-Americans have faced even greater wage stagnation then the rest of the country.” Biden, who is contemplating a run for president in 2016 claims he and President Obama worked to save the economy from a giant recession, but that there was still a lot more to do.
