Phil Robertson & Dave Bossie: Cruz Should Have Delivered ‘Full-Throated’ Endorsement of Trump-Pence Ticket

During their appearance on Thursday’s Breitbart News Daily, SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon asked Phil Robertson and Dave Bossie of the film Torchbearer to comment on Ted Cruz and his speech at the Republican National Convention.

“If I had been Ted, and all the rest of them, the Bushes and all of them, they ought to all come together, and they ought to all say, ‘You know what? We ran a race. We lost. The people have spoken. The Republican Party said this is the guy we want, Donald Trump,’” said Robertson.

When Bannon asked if Trump was an “imperfect instrument” for the values Robertson espouses, he replied, “If I judged everyone by saying, since they’re not as conservative as I am—I’m so far right they can’t even see me!—if I said I’m not going to endorse them unless they’re as conservative as I am, they’re looking at it wrong. Look, you just say, well, we can work together.”

“We may disagree on some issues, but gimme a break, look at the alternative: depravity, moral bankruptcy,” Robertson said.

Bossie, described as “the first guy to support Ted Cruz seven, eight years ago” by Bannon, agreed.

“My goodness, I’m a huge Ted Cruz supporter, and really love the man, and I think he’s a tremendous leader in America at a very difficult time,” he said. “But last night, I don’t know if he misread the crowd, if he missed an opportunity, but I was certainly disappointed that he didn’t have a full-throated — as to Phil’s point — a full-throated discussion of, I fought the good fight, I fought to the end, we stood on our principles, America has spoken, and now we are behind the Trump-Pence ticket.”

Bannon asked Robertson to envision what America would be like under a President Hillary Clinton. He said as far as he’s concerned, “When the Democrats booed God out of their platform, I pretty well left with Him.”

“If the Republicans and the evangelicals do not get off their posteriors and vote, I think I’m gonna head back to the woods and hide out, on this election cycle,” Robertson said. “If we lose this one, we are really gonna put ourselves in a bind.”
