A man has died after falling about 50 feet from a stair railing at Denver’s Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, authorities reported.

The thus far unidentified man fell from a spot near the north end of the stadium at about 9:44 p.m. local time after the Broncos bested the Houston Texans 27-9 on Monday Night Football, according to ESPN.

After the fall the fan was taken to a nearby hospital but by Tuesday afternoon the medical examiner reported he died from his injuries.

Denver police investigate the incident to find out how the man fell.

Stadium Management Co., the concern responsible for maintaining the arena, issued a statement saying, “Our thoughts are with the injured fan, and we are in the process of learning more about this incident from the Denver Police Department’s investigation.”
