Clippers Owner's Son Dies of Apparent Drug Overdose

Scott Sterling, the son of Clippers owner Donald Sterling, was found dead in his Malibu, California home on Tuesday night.

According to the Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore, the body was found alone. He also said Sterling’s friends and family had not seen him for a couple of days.

Whitemore said investigators were looking into a possible drug overdose as the cause of death, but said it would take “several weeks” for toxicology tests to determine what killed Sterling.

In 2009, Scott Sterling made headlines “after he shot his childhood friend, Philip Scheid, who he claimed attacked him with a knife.”

Prosecutors decided not to file charges a year after the shooting because they believed Scheid “was not credible.”
