Unhappy New Year: Denver Ends Clippers' 17-Game Winning Streak

After going undefeated in December, the Los Angeles Clippers started the new year by losing to the Denver Nuggets 92-78 on Tuesday night, snapping their franchise-best 17-game winning streak.

The Clippers (25-7) had last lost on Nov. 26, when the New Orleans Hornets beat them 105-98.

Their 17-game winning streak “was the longest in the NBA since the Boston Celtics won 19 in a row from Nov. 15-Dec. 23, 2008.”

The 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers hold the NBA record of 33-straight victories.

Danilo Gallinari led Denver with 17 points. Six Nuggets were in double figures, and Nuggets center JaVale McGee made his first three-point basket of his career.
