When Alabama demolished Notre Dame 42-14 to win its second consecutive national title and third title in four years, it also was the seventh straight year a school from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) won the BCS title.
The SEC has nine BCS titles as a conference. No other conference has 2. And all the other conferences combined have 6.
Throughout the Alabama-Notre Dame game, the familiar “SEC!” chants could be heard throughout the stadium. They were particularly loud at the end of the game when Alabama had its championship comfortably in hand.
