CNN will debut a sports program during the weekends that former ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols will anchor.
Jeff Zucker, in his fourth day in his official capacity as network’s president, announced the hiring. Nichols is Zucker’s first official hire at the network. The unnamed program will launch later in the year.
Zucker said Nichols, who has worked at ESPN for nearly a decade, will host a show that “will focus on the most interesting stories and personalities in the world of sports.”
CNN has long been criticized for injecting political bias into its news reporting while claiming to be objective. As a result, the network’s ratings have plummeted. It wil be interesting to see if CNN resists the temptation to inject the network’s liberal bias into the sports stories that Nichols’ program will highlight and cover.
