Games that Could Determine NCAA Bids Today

Khalif Wyatt’s three-pointer in the final 10 seconds was even bigger than the three-pointers Tim Hardaway and Ben Brust traded at almost the same time in the final three seconds of regulation to force overtime between Michigan and Wisconsin. Wyatt’s 20th point game on the shot that won a72-71 upset for Temple at Dayton (favored by 5 points at www.kenpom.com). Couple with their earlier semi-road win at Syracuse could get them off the bubble and in the tourney as of today. Here are the other games today for our “Middle 20,” the teams trying to prove they deserve one of the 10 bids that should come out of this list:

Done 11 Temple 80 Temple at 72 Dayton After a touch call went against them at the other end, Value Add top 200 player Khalif Wyatt hit the winning shot in a 72-71 upset win at Dayton (5-point underdog on road). Added to their win at Syracuse could get them off the bubble and in the tourney as of today.
In prog 9 Indiana St. 211 Southern Illinois at 60 Indiana St. Larry Bird’s school took care of an easy one today, and Jake Odum should be getting serious consideration for a bid.
In prog 8 La Salle 234 Fordham at 58 La Salle Ramon Galloway needs to take care of business and not let La Salle let up against a weak Fordham team after a run of upsets has them in strong shape for a bid.
In prog 18 Massachusetts 83 Saint Joseph’s at 98 Massachusetts Chaz Williams and UMass are slight favorites at home, and a loss would just about eliminate them.
4:00 PM 6 Baylor 245 Texas Tech at 27 Baylor Pierre Jackson should run the Baylor offense to an easy blowout win.
5:00 PM 13 South Dakota St. 104 South Dakota St. at 172 Oakland Nate Wolters will not score 53 again today, but this game is a toss-up on the road. With no ranked games on their schedule, South Dakota State needs to pull off tough road wins today and at Murray State to have a shot at the bid.
6:00 PM 4 St. Louis 40 St. Louis at 86 Richmond This game is a toss-up on the court where Richmond already beat VCU, so Dwayne Evans can really solidify a bid with a huge road win today.
7:00 PM 12 Stanford 39 Stanford at 78 Arizona St. Dwight Powell will need to play big inside to get a road win in a game that is a toss-up.
7:00 PM 17 Charlotte 22 VCU at 120 Charlotte VCU is easily in the tournament and comes in as a strong favorite, so this is the kind of upset Pierria Henry must get for Charlottee to have a shot.
8:00 PM 5 Oregon 143 Utah at 43 Oregon Oregon cannot afford a road loss to a team at the bottom of the PAC10, or they could start to head toward the bubble despite the current ranking and hot start. Arsalan Kazemi needs to dominate.
8:00 PM 14 Boise St. 65 Wyoming at 68 Boise St. If Derrick Marks can pull at road upset at Boise State, who will be favored today after big wins, then Wyoming could get a realistic shot at a run. They started hot, but have stumbled in conference play.
8:00 PM 15 Alabama 123 Louisiana St. at 79 Alabama A loss today would be devestating to the NCAA hopes of Trevor Releford after Bama was stunned at Auburn.
9:00 PM 1 Notre Dame 3 Louisville at 55 Notre Dame Louisville has the ability to hand the Irish a double digit loss in South Bend, and losing a tough “eye test” like that could start to move the Irish toward the bubble. A win tonight and ND has pretty much locked the bid up and may have Jack Cooley in contention for at least All-Conference.
9:00 PM 3 Brigham Young 140 San Francisco at 49 Brigham Young Brandon Davies should lead to a double digit win.
9:00 PM 19 New Mexico St. 227 Seattle at 96 New Mexico St. Anything less than a blowout win for New Mexico State would be a killer.
10:00 PM 10 UCLA 102 Washington St. at 54 UCLA The very inconsistent Bruin cannot afford a home loss to a lower team like Washington State, after just dodging a bullet at home against Washington.
11:00 PM 2 St. Mary’s 21 St. Mary’s at 171 San Diego Matthew Dellavedova could go in and get another double digit road win.
