Mississippi and Iowa State both missed golden opportunities to pick up road wins against top 100 teams today in the State of Texas. Meanwhile the top team in the Breitbart Sports “Middle 20” Oregon won 65-52 at Washington and Baylor destroyed West Virginia 80-60 as both made their cases they should be locks for the tournament and no longer in the Middle 20.
Arizona State will drop out of the Middle 20 with the loss at lowly Utah, and Charlotte is the most likely team to at least break into consideration with their stunning upset tonight at Butler. The 20 teams on this list are competing for up to 10 bids for the NCAA tournament, however typically there are one or two upsets that put an extra team in from a conference, which cuts down the number on this list that make the tournament.
If the top seven teams on this list get the last seven spots, then the teams ranked four, five, six and seven would have to play an extra First Round game in Dayton to make the field of 64 teams.
