Obama Golfs with Tiger Woods

On Sunday, President Barack Obama is playing a round of golf with Tiger Woods, a day after Obama received some lessons from Butch Harmon, Woods’s former swing coach who now coaches his nemesis Phil Mickelson and is regarded as the world’s top golf instructor.

Obama is vacationing in Florida and playing at The Floridian, which is owned by Butch Crane.

Golf Digest writer Tim Rosaforte reported that Woods holed out from a bunker on the first hole against Obama for a birdie. This is the first time Woods and Obama have ever played golf together.

Woods recently won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and seems to have trust and confidence in his golf game. But the meeting could be a bad omen.

Obama and Woods last met in April of 2009 at the White House when Woods was Washington, D.C. to host the AT&T National golf tournament at the Congressional golf club in Maryland.

Seven months after that meeting, Woods’s life erupted in scandal when he crashed into a fire hydrant during Thanksgiving weekend after his wife at the time, Elin Nordegren, intercepted text messages from one of Woods’s many mistresses.

Woods has been piecing his life – and golf game – back together since. He has not won a major tournament since that incident as well.
