Lead Detective in Pistorius Case Facing Seven Attempted Murder Charges

The lead detective in the Oscar Pistorius murder case is himself facing seven attempted murder charges for shooting at a taxi in 2011 to try to stop it, police said Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, detective Hilton Botha “is scheduled to appear in court in May.”

On Wednesday, Botha’s inconsistent testimony and “revelations of a series of police blunders” may allow Pistorius to go free on bail.

Closing arguments in Pistorius’s bail hearing will be heard on Thursday.
