Obama Speaks About Golfing with Tiger: 'I Better Keep My Day Job'

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama spoke for the first time about his golfing vacation with Tiger Woods last weekend. Interestingly, he commented about Woods to a reporter who is not a part of the White House press pool.

In an interview with ABC’s San Francisco affiliate, Obama said Woods was “on another planet.”

“He plays a different game than I do. He’s on another planet,” Obama said. “He knew that I wasn’t a big threat to his world ranking, and I knew that I better keep my day job.”

Obama has been criticized for vacationing at the exclusive Floridian golf club in Florida last weekend, getting private lessons from renowned swing coach Butch Harmon, and not letting reporters near the event while attempting to cast himself as a champion of the middle class in a struggling economy. The president of the White House Correspondents Association formally complained about the lack of access over the weekend.

A former White House spokesman put it simply on Monday, saying Obama did not let reporters near his golf outing with Woods because the White House feared the terrible optics.
