Animal Rights Activists May Have Poisoned Dog at Westminster Dog Show

A dog owner believes animal rights activists poisoned her prized show dog at this year’s Westminster Dog Show, causing the 3-year-old Samoyed to die four days after competing in the show last month.

Lynette Blue, the dog owner, told the Associated Press “it is in the realm of possibility” that her pet was deliberately poisoned, possibly by animal rights activists like those from PETA.

“The timeline adds up. There’s no other scenario we can come up with other than poison,” she said.

The dog’s handler said animal rights activists–like those from PETA–have in the past disrupted the event.

PETA co-founder and president Ingrid Newkirk told the Associated Press that those claims made “no sense whatsoever.”
