Maurice Jones-Drew Wanted to Score TD Instead of Kneeling to 'Take Care' of Fantasy Players

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew once wanted to score a touchdown instead of kneeling down at the end of the game to help football fans who had him on their fantasy football teams.

At the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference last weekend, former Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio reportedly said that he once asked Jones-Drew to kneel down at the one-yard line to run out the clock when Jones-Drew, for a brief second, said, “I’ve got to take care of my fantasy people.”

Del Rio said he asked Jones-Drew to eventually kneel down for the team.

This anecdote not only reveals how much NFL players pay attention to fantasy football, but should also endear Jones-Drew even more to the fantasy football crowd.
