Star Brazilian Soccer Player Convicted of Ordering Murder of Ex-Girlfriend, Feeding Body to Dogs

Bruno Fernandes, a star player for Brazil’s national soccer team, was sent to jail for 22 years on Friday for ordering the murder of his former girlfriend in 2010 after she reportedly asked for child support payments and then cutting her body up and feeding it to dogs.

In a grisly case that has been compared to the O.J. Simpson case, the Brazilian goalkeeper who was slated to play on Brazil’s team in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was also found “guilty of hiding the body of Eliza Samudio,” his former girlfriend, “and kidnapping their baby son in 2010.”

Fernandes admitted that his ex-girlfriend was strangled, killed, cut to pieces, and fed to dogs, but denied ordering the killing. Her body has never been found.

But his argument did not hold up, as he was convicted of ordering two men to carry out the horrific murder.
