March Madness: Iona and Niagra Lead Balanced Metro-Atlantic. Siena Wins

Niagra is the 1-seed, but www.kenpom.com ranks them as the fourth best team in the very balanced Metro Atlantic Athletic tournament that started Friday and concludes Monday in Springfield, Mass. The five top teams are ranked between 100th and 138th. The top team on teh computer is Iona, who is only a 4-seed but  features Low-Major All-American Lamont Jones and Sean Armand, the 21st best low-major player. Siena had a minor upset over Marist 70-64 to get a shot at the 1-seed Niagra Saturday at 2:30, and Fairfield outlasted St. Peter’s for the chance to face 2-seed Rider.

Iona faces Canisius at 4:30 Saturday, and 3-seed Loyola-Maryland will wrap up the action Saturday against 6-seed Manhattan at 9:30 ET.
