Sportsman Channel Host Gregory Rodriguez Murdered

Popular Sportsman Channel host Gregory Rodriguez, who hosted the popular “A Rifleman’s Journal” television show, was reportedly murdered on Thursday by a deranged man who was jealous Rodriguez was meeting with his wife on a business trip.

Rodriguez, 43, of Sugar Land, Texas, was reportedly shot and killed by a man “in an apparent jealous rage” when Rodriguez simply visited the shooter’s wife on a business trip in Montana.

In a Facebook note on Friday evening, Sportsman Channel said they were “deeply saddened by the news of Greg’s sudden untimely death” and Rodriguez “truly epitomized Sportsman Channel’s position of being a leader in the outdoors”

“He was a well-known authority on big game hunting,” Sportsman Channel said. “The entire family at Sportsman Channel and InterMedia Outdoors will miss his thoughtfulness, candor and dedication to encourage a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience for all. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.”

Montana police said the killer “Wayne Bengston, 41, then beat his wife, took his 2-year-old son to a relative’s house and drove to his home about 25 miles away in West Glacier, where he apparently killed himself.”
Rodriguez was an avid hunter who hunted in 21 different countries, according to reports, and his popular show “A Rifleman’s Journal” tracked the camera-friendly Rodriguez on these hunting trips.

Rodriguez owned “his own outfitting business, Global Adventure Outfitters,” and was a “contributor to outdoor publications like Petersen’s Hunting, Guns & Ammo and Shooting Times, as well as his current show ‘A Rifleman’s Journal.” He also “won an award from Nikon Optics in 2012 for his ditorial contributions and an award from Sportsman Channel just this past January for ‘Best Instructional/Educational Program'” at the Sportsman Choice Awards for his TV show

Rodriguez leaves behind a wife and two children.
