Best Team in Best Conference: Indiana Takes Big Ten Title 72-71 at Michigan

Our preseason Player of the Year Cody Zeller (pictured grabbing one of his 10 rebounds) scored his 25th point with 13 seconds to go to give No. 2 Indiana a 72-71 lead at No. 7 Michigan with just 13 seconds left. Then Trey Burke–the Michigan point guard who ends the regular season as Breitbart Sports Player of the Year–drove back down the court and came within inches of giving four teams a share of the Big Ten title.

Burke made it near the rim to force a strong contest from Indiana that left Jordan Morgan even when Burke’s shot went off the rim. Morgan followed with a tip that seemed to touch every part of the rim. If it had fallen through, then the Big Ten would have had four co-champions the day after the Big East had three. But when it fell out, the Indiana Hoosiers had their first outright Big Ten title in two decades in a win that should guarantee them a 1-seed in the NCAA tournament no matter what happens in the Big Ten tournament.

The game featured three of the five Breitbart Sports 1st team All-Americans, and Victor Oladipo grabbed even more rebounds than Zeller with 13 to go along with 14 points.
