Saint Louis had control of the A-10 championship until VCU’s full-court press “Havoc” defense finally made the game close in the second half, but it was not enough as the Saint Louis won the A-10 title 62-56.
Saint Louis’ Kwamain Mitchell scored 19 points for Saint Louis.
With Saint Louis leading by 13, VCU quickly outscored Saint Louis by 12 points in less than three minutes with a flurry of forced turnover. But Saint Louis then took control of the game and goes into the tournament with momentum.
VCU will also make the tournament and the A-10, along with the Mountain West Conference, may shock some teams next week in the tournament.
