Syracuse closed Thursday with the largest margin of victory of the day, beating Montana by 47 points – one better than VCU’s record 46-point win against Akron. The Orangemen advance to play a virtual road game against California in San Jose Saturday, but they are looking like the team that was in the top 10 most of the season before being pushed around in losses to Georgetown and Marquette.
Michael Carter-Williams continued to run the offense without scoring much, and the 2-3 zone continued to shut down opponents. Carter-Williams had eight assists and helped set up Brandon Triche for 20 points and CJ Fair for 13.
Syracuse was tied with Gonzaga as the heaviest favorite of the day in Breitbart Sports Viewers’ Guide, but while the Zags barely survived, this one was over early. For the full AP account, click here.
